Courses are being run as follows:
Please follow the screens to book.
This course is for under-18s who can't ride a bike and if present, the stabilisers will need to be removed for the training. The training goes through stages of safely getting on and off a bike, braking, steering, getting a good balance and pedalling. Most people are able to achieve these by the end of the course, although it's impossible for us to guarantee it. The training will give the rider the skills to go on and practise.
We allocate two hours including a short break.
Before starting the training, trainees need to have a bike in working condition. If your child's bike has stabilisers, please remove them so we can help your child achieve the balance required.
Cycle training is a discretionary service provided by Surrey County Council and it has to cover its costs.
In the event that you are booking training on behalf of a group, “you” and “your” includes each member of that group. Also, you as the individual booking the training must ensure that each member of the group agrees to comply with these terms and conditions and has supplied to you the information requested.
You can download a pdf of these terms and conditions if you want to circulate them to others in a group.
Then you must ask your parent, carer or guardian who is aged over 18 to make this booking on your behalf.

Although the law does not compel cyclists of any age to wear helmets, rule 59 of the Highway Code states: 'You should wear a cycle helmet that conforms to current regulations, is the correct size and securely fastened. Evidence suggests that a correctly fitted helmet will reduce your risk of sustaining a head injury in certain circumstances.'
For this reason, we have made it compulsory for everyone participating in cycle training to wear a helmet. Instructors will be wearing helmets. The helmet should conform to to EN1078 or EN1080, please check for a label inside the helmet.
Just before the course, please make sure your child's helmet is correctly fitted - this 1 minute video shows how.
If there are any circumstances which may interfere with your child's ability to wear a helmet, please tell us below.
Please note that learning to ride may involve the instructor supporting your child to balance on their bike by holding their shoulders or waist. The instructor will always ask permission before doing this.
If you answer no your child can still do the course, but the Instructor's teaching options will be more limited
This information will help us to ensure we address all welfare needs. Please note, if your child needs to carry medication whilst cycling please make sure they have something to put it in.
We want to provide inclusive cycle training. Please help with the following information and the cycle training team may contact you to see if extra support is needed to give your child the best possible experience.
